FBCCI President Emphasizes Common People’s Well-being Amid Onion Price Hike

In response to the spike in onion prices in the market, Mahbubul Alam, President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), has suggested exploring the import of onions from alternative markets if necessary to stabilize the supply chain and prices.

He emphasized the FBCCI’s commitment to supporting businesses engaged in importing daily essentials, including onions, from various countries to address the ongoing crisis. Mahbubul stressed the importance of selling these products at fair prices and urged traders to refrain from artificially inflating onion prices. He highlighted the significance of onions for individuals across all societal strata and called for cooperation from traders to prevent the suffering of common people.

Mahbubul also underscored the responsibility of businessmen in preventing market destabilization through artificial crises and advocated increased monitoring of onion purchases and sales at different levels to maintain stable prices.
