Nation to Observe Mourning Day Tomorrow for Quota Reform Protest Victims

In a solemn move, the cabinet has announced that the nation will observe a day of mourning tomorrow (30 July) in memory of those who have lost their lives during the ongoing quota reform protests.

During a cabinet meeting today, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Kamal provided an update on the current situation amidst the quota reform protests, revealing a tragic death toll of 150 individuals.

Addressing the press after the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain conveyed the government’s decision to observe a nationwide mourning day tomorrow, considering the numerous deaths and injuries that have occurred during the protests.

Devotees in mosques, temples, pagodas, and churches have been urged to pray for the souls of the departed and for the swift recovery of those injured, stated the cabinet secretary.

The cabinet meeting was presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
