In preparation for the national election on January 7, banks in Bangladesh will operate on Friday and Saturday, following instructions from the Election Commission (EC).
The Bangladesh Bank (BB) issued a circular, directing branches in Dhaka, Chattogram, and other metropolitan cities, districts, and upazilas to remain open for two days with limited staff. This arrangement aims to facilitate the withdrawal of funds by the EC Secretariat, returning officers, and other involved parties.
Additionally, BB instructed banks to exclude officials assigned as polling officers from their regular banking duties.
