Dhaka, the densely populated capital of Bangladesh, recorded the worst air quality in the world this morning, with an AQI score of 227 at 9 AM (September 23, 2024), classifying the air as ‘very unhealthy’ according to the AQI index.
The AQI scale deems air quality between 201 and 300 as ‘very unhealthy’, while a score above 301 is considered ‘hazardous’. Air quality scores between 50 and 100 are classified as ‘moderate’, with increasing health risks for sensitive individuals beyond 100.
Delhi (India), Lahore (Pakistan), and Jakarta (Indonesia) followed closely behind Dhaka, ranking second, third, and fourth with AQI scores of 189, 178, and 165, respectively.
