Those who came to Secretariat disguised as Ansar only wanted to cause unrest: Law adviser

Dr. Asif Nazrul, the law affairs adviser to the interim government, stated that those who entered the Secretariat disguised as Ansar members last night (25 August) had no genuine demands but intended to incite unrest.

“You all witnessed the brutality with which they assaulted the students who stood against oppression,” he told reporters this morning (26 August) at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he visited the injured, including Hasnat Abdullah, the Coordinator of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, who was attacked by the Ansar members.

“They demanded the issuance of a gazette and the nationalization of their group at 10 PM. This was an impossible and unrealistic demand, made solely to create chaos,” Asif Nazrul explained.

“They surrounded the Secretariat with the aim of causing trouble. If more of them had joined, the situation could have escalated significantly, but the students prevented that from happening,” he added.
