Rickshaw Pullers Rally Against Battery-Operated Competition

Rickshaw

A group of pedal rickshaw pullers took to the streets today, demanding the removal of battery-operated rickshaws, which they describe as “discriminatory.”

Rickshaw pullers from various parts of Dhaka converged towards Shahbagh at around 10 a.m. this morning (26 August), voicing their grievances against the rising dominance of battery-run rickshaws.

One protester from Banglamotor, en route to Shahbagh with fellow pullers, expressed his frustration: “Our daily earnings barely exceed Tk200. After paying the rickshaw rental and buying some rice, there’s scarcely enough left to feed our families.”
