Justice

Four newly appointed justices of the Supreme Court’s Appellate Division were sworn in on Tuesday. These justices had previously served in the High Court Division before their recent promotion.

The oath-taking ceremony was presided over by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, who administered the oath at the Supreme Court premises at 10:30 am. Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan, the registrar general of the Supreme Court, orchestrated the proceedings.

The newly inducted judges are Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury, Justice Syed Md. Ziaul Karim, Justice Md. Rezaul Haque, and Justice S. M. Emdadul Hoque.

Their appointments were made by President Mohammed Shahabuddin under the authority of Article 95(1) of the constitution and took effect upon their swearing-in.

This follows the recent elevation of Syed Refaat Ahmed, formerly the senior judge of the High Court Division, to the position of the 25th Chief Justice of Bangladesh. The newly sworn-in justices will now serve alongside Chief Justice Ahmed and Justice Ashfaqul Islam.
