BSEC Chairman Shibli Resigns

Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul Islam, Chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), stepped down from his role today (August 10).

“I have chosen to step down from my position at BSEC for personal reasons. Accordingly, I submitted my resignation letter via mail to the secretary of the Financial Institutions Department under the Ministry of Finance at 11:00 pm on Saturday”.

Earlier this year, on May 28, Shibli Rubayat was reappointed by the recently ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for an additional four-year term as BSEC chairman. His initial appointment as chairman occurred on May 17, 2020.
