The US Ambassador to Bangladesh, Peter Haas, held a meeting with officials from Biman Bangladesh Airlines on Tuesday afternoon at Biman’s head office, Balaka. Representatives from Boeing, the US-based aviation giant, were also present.
The details of the discussion were not disclosed. Biman Chairman Mostafa Kamal Uddin and Managing Director and CEO Shafiqul Azim attended the pre-scheduled meeting. Biman, the national carrier, currently operates a modern fleet of 21 predominantly Boeing aircraft but plans to include Airbus aircraft in its fleet, introducing competition into Bangladesh’s aviation market.
